🚀 Local Preview

Yes! You can absolutely preview your website locally before pushing to GitHub. I’ve created a detailed guide in LOCAL_PREVIEW.md.

Quick Start:

cd /Users/vchoudhary/Desktop/Personal_website/cvikash.github.io
bundle install
bundle exec jekyll serve

Then open http://localhost:4000 in your browser!

📋 Decisions to Consider

Here are some things you might want to customize:

1. Color Scheme

Currently using a purple/blue gradient theme. Would you like to:

  • Keep the current colors?
  • Switch to a different color palette (e.g., green/teal, orange/pink, monochrome)?
  • Use your institute’s colors?

2. Projects Page

I’ve added placeholder project cards. You should:

  • Replace with your actual projects
  • Add real links to GitHub repos, papers, or demos
  • Add project images if you have them

3. CV Page

The CV page has a nice structure, but you might want to:

  • Add a downloadable PDF version (place it in assets/cv.pdf)
  • Add more detailed sections (publications, awards, etc.)
  • Add timeline visualization

4. Home Page

The home page currently uses the default Jekyll layout. Would you like:

  • A custom hero section with a welcome message?
  • Featured projects or publications?
  • A custom landing page design?

5. Animations

Currently using subtle animations. Would you prefer:

  • More dynamic animations?
  • Fewer/no animations for a more minimal look?
  • Different animation styles?

🎨 Customization Guide

Changing Colors

Edit assets/css/main.scss and modify the CSS variables at the top:

:root {
  --primary-gradient: linear-gradient(135deg, #667eea 0%, #764ba2 100%);
  // Change these colors to your preference
}

Adding Projects

Edit _pages/projects.md and add more project cards in the projects-grid div.

Updating Content

  • About: Edit _pages/about.md
  • CV: Edit _pages/cv.md
  • Navigation: Edit _data/navigation.yml

📝 Next Steps

  1. Preview locally using the instructions in LOCAL_PREVIEW.md
  2. Review the design and let me know if you want any changes
  3. Add your actual content (projects, publications, etc.)
  4. Customize colors/styling if desired
  5. Push to GitHub when you’re happy with it!

💡 Tips

  • The site will automatically rebuild when you make changes locally
  • All styling is in assets/css/main.scss - easy to customize
  • The design is fully responsive and works on mobile devices
  • Dark mode is already configured and enhanced

Let me know if you’d like any adjustments or have questions about the design!
